The former MLB World Series winner and All-Star pitcher replaced Adam Mosley. He played for the silver medal USA National Team at the 1999 Pan Am Games.

USA Baseball has announced that Brad Penny had been named the U-18 National Team pitching coach. He replaced Adam Moseley of Hoover high school.

After serving as a coach at the inaugural Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft Combine in June and the Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) League in July, Penny will make his National Team coaching debut.

Born in 1978 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Penny had a 14-year MLB career as a right-handed pitcher. He helped the Miami Marlins win the 2003 World Series and made two All-Star Game selections.

Penny helped the US win a silver medal at the 1999 Pan American Games.

USA Baseball will host the U-18 National Team trials from 27 to 31 August in Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida.

The USA U-18 National Team will play a seven-game friendship series against Canada from 3 to 9 September. The games are scheduled at the Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, and LECOM Park and Pirate City in Bradenton.
