The slugging first baseman helped the Korean U-18 National Team earn a bronze medal on home soil in 2019.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) Kiwoom Heroes signed their top draft pick Jae Young Jang to a club-record contract for a rookie. The 18-year old slugger received a 900 million won (US$ 786,000) signing bonus.

Jang wore jersey #21, played first base and batted cleanup for Korea in the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2019. He helped his National Team earn a bronze medal on home soil in Gijang, going 3-for-9 with 6 RBIs and even pitched 3.1 innings in relief.

Jang earned the second-largest bonus in the history of KBO. The record still belongs to the deal signed by right-handed pitcher Han Ki Joo, who received a won 1 billion signing bonus from the Kia Tigers in 2006.
