Moniak was a member of the US National Team that won the 2015 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Osaka, Japan.

Mickey Moniak, a WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup star who was the first overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, broke into the big leagues as a ninth-inning pinch runner for the Phillies on Wednesday night at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park. The 22-year-old outfielder replaced Alec Bohm, who also recently made his Major League Baseball debut and suited up for USA Baseball at the 2019 WBSC Premier12.

On Thursday, Moniak found himself in his first-ever big league starting lineup career, batting ninth and patrolling left field. He went 0-for-4 with a walk.

Moniak was a member of the USA Baseball's National Team that won the 2015 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Osaka, Japan. Moniak hit .286 and scored the winning run against Japan in the world championship final, won by USA, 2-1. 2015 U-18 World Champion teammate Braxton Garrett made his MLB debut earlier this week, getting a win in his first start with the Miami Marlins.

Some of the biggest names in baseball starred in the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup as the best young players in their respective countries.
