The Asians gained their first win in the semi-final round 11-1, with a home run by Lim Byeong Wuk

INTERCONTINENTAL STADIUM. Korea gained the match-up between the two teams at the bottom of the semi-final round robin’s standing of the XXVI 18U Baseball World Cup beating Venezuela at the Intercontinental Stadium Friday.

First baseman Lim Byeong Wuk delivered a 2-RBI home run to the right field in the top of the third, after Kim Tae Jin had scored the first run of the game out of a walk, a balk, a single by Kim Ha Seong and a wild pitch by Vegas.

The Asians went on the scoreboard in each of the following three innings: scored four times in the fourth, out of four hits (a triple by Bae Byung Ok and an RBI single from Lim included) and two errors of the Venezuelans, twice in the fifth, again with three hits and an error, and one more in the sixth, when Lim hit safely for the third time in the game and was batted in by Park Chan Ho, to set the score to 10-0.

The South Americans were limited to 4 hits by An Kyu Hyun, who gave up 3, with 2 walks and 5 Ks and Park Se Wong (1 hit, 2 strikeouts), but prevented an anticipated end of the game scoreing in the seventh against Yu Hee Woon, who allowed a single to the designated hitter Juan Quero and a triple to Aris.

The Koreans scored their eleventh run in the eighth because of a balk of their catcher Suarez, when Kim Kyu Nam was on third, and ended the game with a double play in the bottom of the inning.

Korea is now 1-3 in the semi-final round and will be back at the Intercontinental Stadium tomorrow, to face Chinese Taipei, while Venezuela (0-4) will meet Cuba in the Taichung Stadium.
